Key Takeaways
Patna, April 4 (NationPress) Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar performed an on-site evaluation of the Danapur–Bihta Elevated Road construction in Patna this Saturday. He closely monitored the progress and provided directives to the project officials.
During his assessment near Kanhauli village, the Chief Minister gauged the work's speed and quality, urging the engineers and contractors to complete the project on schedule without compromising on construction standards. He emphasized that any lapse in quality control would be unacceptable.
Key officials, including Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Minister's Secretaries Kumar Ravi and Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan S.M., along with representatives from the executing agency, briefed him on the project's status.
After reviewing the updates, Nitish Kumar instructed the team to accelerate the work to ensure the project is finished within the planned timeline.
The Danapur–Bihta Elevated Corridor, which is being built along NH-922, is a significant four-lane endeavor covering around 25 kilometers and is designed to enhance connectivity to the future Bihta airport.
With a projected budget of over Rs 1,969 crore, the project is anticipated to be completed by September 2026. Notably, it features a 14.5-km flyover, which ranks among the longest elevated sections in eastern India.
Upon completion, this corridor is set to alleviate traffic congestion and promote regional development. The Chief Minister remarked that the corridor will greatly benefit numerous commuters, significantly reducing traffic bottlenecks between Danapur and Bihta, one of the busiest routes in Patna, and cutting down travel time.
This elevated road will link Danapur Railway Station, Shiwala Chowk, and Bihta airport, enhancing access to vital institutions such as IIT Patna and NIT Patna. It will also fortify connectivity toward Koilwar and western Bihar, supporting future infrastructure development, including the proposed Bihta civil enclave.
Ultimately, this project is expected to improve urban mobility in Patna and its surrounding regions while enhancing long-distance connectivity to Delhi and other areas.
