Patna, April 8 (NationPress) In a significant political shift in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is poised to take his oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on April 10. State Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary confirmed that Nitish Kumar will make his way to New Delhi on April 9 to officially assume his position in the Rajya Sabha.

After this, he is expected to resign from his role as Chief Minister, which will initiate the process of forming a new government in the state.

Chaudhary mentioned that subsequent to Nitish Kumar's resignation, a meeting involving all member parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will convene to determine the next Chief Minister and the structure of the new government.

When questioned about possible candidates for the Chief Minister position, he suggested, “Any name you (the media) put forth will be considered,” indicating ongoing discussions but no formal decisions made yet.

A key meeting of the Janata Dal (United) is set to take place in Delhi on April 9, which will feature senior figures, including Union Minister Lalan Singh and acting national president Sanjay Jha.

Sources have indicated that the agenda will focus on the power transition in Bihar, along with selecting the new Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, as well as the role of the JD(U) in the forthcoming government.

Nitish Kumar, who also serves as the national president of the JD(U), will be instrumental in these discussions.

Reports suggest he may also meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Delhi to deliberate on the future political landscape of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and resigned from the Legislative Council on March 30.

Insiders suggest that after the end of 'Kharmas' (an inauspicious month-long period in Hindu astrology) on April 14, the new government could be established around April 15-16.

There is considerable speculation that Bihar may witness its first BJP Chief Minister in this transition.

Before his departure for Delhi, Nitish Kumar conducted a ceremony in Patna, where he distributed appointment letters to 4,954 Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs).

This event is regarded as one of his concluding official acts as Chief Minister.

The upcoming days are anticipated to be pivotal for the political landscape of Bihar, with a leadership change, shifting alliances, and new governance priorities on the horizon.
