How is Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Promoting Citizen-Centric Revenue Administration?

Bhubaneswar, June 4 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday highlighted the necessity for a transparent, responsive, and citizen-centric revenue administration.

While participating in the State-Level Revenue Officers’ Conference at Lok Seva Bhawan, Majhi strongly advocated for zero tolerance towards corruption, particularly in land transactions, warning that any irregularities—especially regarding tribal and scheduled caste land dealings—will face stringent penalties.

“Such unlawful transactions seldom occur without the awareness of tehsildars. If you are found to be complicit, you will be held accountable,” he cautioned.

The Chief Minister also emphasized that his government’s foremost aim is to reach the unreached—those historically marginalized and disadvantaged.

He urged officials to safeguard valuable government lands from encroachments and to address land-related issues like mutation and partition with utmost transparency and within required timelines.

“We are preparing several reforms in the revenue sector shortly. While resolving land disputes, remember you are delivering justice. Conduct yourselves with integrity,” stated CM Majhi. During his address, he praised tehsildars as the “backbone of grassroots governance,” underscoring their critical role in delivering justice and swiftly resolving public grievances.

“Your office should not instill fear in the public but should be a sanctuary of trust,” he remarked. Reiterating his government’s dedication to modernizing land administration, the Chief Minister declared, “no individual in Odisha shall remain landless.

Even those possessing less than four decimals of land will be recognized as landless and provided land under the government’s land allocation scheme.

Effective implementation of this scheme hinges on your active participation.

Majhi commended the role of revenue officers in the rapid relocation of 8.1 lakh individuals to 6,210 safe shelters during cyclone ‘Dana’ as part of the “Zero Casualty” mission.

With the monsoon season approaching, CM Majhi instructed officials to remain vigilant and proactive.

“The monsoon has already started in some regions. Please consistently monitor weather updates and act according to SOPs to ensure public safety,” he urged, noting that the monsoon season and cyclonic threats will continue until November.

Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister stated: “The Revenue Department is a reflection of clean and effective governance. Your standard should not be power or prestige, but commitment to public service.”
