Bhubaneswar, Sep 29 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conveyed warm wishes to the residents of Odisha in celebration of Durga Puja.
“I offer my sincere greetings to the people of Odisha on the auspicious occasions of Durga Puja and Dussehra. This festival is celebrated with immense devotion and splendor from urban centers to rural areas throughout the state. Maa Durga has arrived to bestow her blessings, and I pray for a harmonious, prosperous, and developed Odisha under her divine influence. I urge everyone to celebrate this festival in a spirit of harmony and peace,” stated Majhi.
In parallel, the Odisha Police have implemented extensive security measures to ensure the smooth celebration of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival across various districts, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
During a press briefing, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh shared that a total of 193 pandals, both large and small, have been constructed this year in Bhubaneswar, with 24 showcasing idols adorned with precious gold and silver ornaments.
Singh emphasized that the security measures will prioritize crowd management and traffic control. To accomplish this, static guards and mobile units, including 13 strike and mobile teams, have been mobilized. The Commissioner added that surveillance will be maintained through a mix of manual, semi-manual, and electronic systems. Drones will be utilized to monitor crowd flow and ensure sufficient exit routes.
In the event of overcrowding, public address announcements will direct devotees to alternate pandals and safe zones. He indicated that these arrangements will persist for the next three days, followed by an additional two days of vigilance during the idol immersion process.
During the immersion, while security at the pandals will be reduced, the focus will shift to traffic diversions and ensuring smooth vehicular passage.
To facilitate a successful Durga Puja, the Commissionerate police have deployed 38 platoons of police personnel, 20 platoons of home guards, one company of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), one Special Tactical Unit (STU), and a bomb detection and disposal squad equipped with necessary tools in Bhubaneswar.
Additionally, three DCP-rank officers, six Additional DCPs, 12 ACPs, 33 Inspectors, 172 Sub Inspectors, Assistant SIs, and 79 women constables have been assigned in Bhubaneswar for enhanced oversight.
Plain-clothes officers have also been deployed, and CCTV cameras have been installed in all pandals to deter crimes like snatching, theft, and other anti-social behaviors.
