Bhubaneswar, March 30 (NationPress) In a decisive move, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed district collectors throughout Odisha to activate enforcement teams on a 24/7 basis to vigilantly oversee market conditions and combat black marketing, illegal hoarding, and escalating prices.
During a high-level virtual meeting with district collectors, CM Majhi assessed the availability of essential goods in light of the ongoing situation in West Asia.
As per an official announcement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Majhi evaluated the measures implemented at the district level to address the evolving circumstances.
He urged collectors to closely observe market dynamics, take action against black marketing and hoarding, and impose strict penalties on unscrupulous traders.
In his address, the Chief Minister reassured that all essential goods are sufficiently stocked in the state.
He mentioned that the government is committed to maintaining a well-coordinated supply chain and advised the public to remain calm. CM Majhi further directed collectors to consistently share updates on the availability of essential goods to instill public confidence.
Referring to a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 27, the Chief Minister noted that the PM had encouraged all Chief Ministers to collaborate in the spirit of “Team India.”
He underscored the necessity for all participants to operate together harmoniously during the current scenario.
The Chief Minister also commanded collectors to take stringent action against those spreading misinformation and inciting panic among the public, emphasizing the importance of monitoring social media.
CM Majhi highlighted the establishment of crisis management groups at both state and district levels, underlining the necessity for coordinated actions to guarantee the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
Collectors were further instructed to keep a close watch on the availability of petrol, diesel, LPG, fertilizers, and other vital goods in their areas. The Chief Minister called for ongoing awareness campaigns to prevent public panic.
Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, provided details regarding the measures being undertaken by the state government. District collectors also updated the Chief Minister on initiatives being executed in their respective jurisdictions.
