Bhubaneswar, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Odisha Energy Department has revealed that the state is set to host the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 in Puri from December 5-7.
The event's logo, representing the synergy between nature and innovation, was unveiled on Thursday by Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, alongside Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the Deputy Chief Minister (Energy, Agriculture & Farmer Empowerment) of Odisha.
The official website, www.gelsodisha2025.com, was also launched on the same day. The Summit's theme has been established as “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation”.
These three interconnected priorities aim to ensure sufficient and efficient power, maintain a balance between ecology and economy, and encourage innovative solutions within the sector.
GELS will unite Union and State Energy Ministers, secretaries, policymakers, innovators, researchers, and industry leaders to shape India's collective energy future.
This summit marks the initiation of a platform for dialogue among energy leaders from various states, alongside national and global figures in the sector.
Key discussions will revolve around addressing India's growing energy demands, enhancing the reliability and security of the energy supply, fostering sustainable growth while respecting ecological concerns, and expediting the energy transition through cutting-edge technologies and digital advancements.
Notably, the summit will delve into current and forward-looking trends in the energy sector. Discussion topics will include small and modular nuclear plants, green hydrogen, and digital grid security.
The department's announcement indicated that this will be the inaugural pan-India initiative of its kind, with similar positive impacts seen in other regions globally, such as forums for Education Ministers in Latin America.
Union Minister Naik remarked, “Energy sufficiency transcends mere demand fulfillment; it encompasses reliability and resilience. GELS will be pivotal in realizing Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of sustainability and cooperative federalism, paving the way for India to achieve Net Zero by 2070.
He emphasized that the summit “embodies India’s dedication to an innovation-driven, sustainable energy future.”
Energy Ministers from countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Bhutan have received invitations and are anticipated to attend.
