Bhubaneswar, Jan 19 (NationPress) The government of Odisha, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is set to host an impressive three-day conclave named Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) in Bhubaneswar starting from January 21. The primary aim of this event is to enhance rural livelihoods and foster prosperity within the farming community throughout the state.
During a press briefing on Monday, Odisha’s Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Gokulananda Mallik, revealed that this conclave will serve as a significant platform for promoting awareness and prosperity among fish and livestock farmers.
Furthermore, he provided insights on initiatives being implemented to make Odisha self-sufficient in producing milk, meat, eggs, and fish.
The inaugural ceremony of MPSO-2026, themed 'Innovative interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha,' will be officiated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. This notable event is scheduled to take place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from January 21 to 23.
The closing session will be honored by the presence of the Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati.
According to official reports, over 8,000 farmers, entrepreneurs, and members of WSHG from every block in the state are anticipated to participate over the three-day event.
Around 348 farmers, including six from each sub-division, along with entrepreneurs, will be recognized as 'Champions' for their outstanding contributions to fish and livestock farming.
Additionally, the top 20 officials from the Fisheries and ARD sector will be honored for their roles in advancing the industry.
An initiative named ‘Ask the Minister’ will be conducted during the conclave, allowing farmers from across the state to raise their questions with the Fisheries Minister, who will provide responses to all inquiries.
“This convention will create an avenue for farmers to voice their concerns and questions directly. We are committed to addressing these issues and finding feasible solutions,” he stated, while indicating that senior officials and experts will engage in thorough discussions with stakeholders.
Various other programs, panel discussions, and exhibitions are planned to enrich the experience during the grand MPSO-2026 conclave.
