Dehradun, July 13 (NationPress) - Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the initiative known as 'Operation Kalnemi' on Sunday, highlighting that over 100 imposters have been caught so far. He delivered a strong message to those plotting and masquerading as 'sadhus' with the intent to tarnish the reputation of Sanatan Dharma.

The state government recently initiated 'Operation Kalnemi' to combat fraudsters impersonating as holy individuals in saffron attire, who exploit innocent citizens and even rob them of their possessions.

Speaking at an event, CM Dhami stated, "We have launched Operation Kalnemi to reveal the true identities of those in disguise and ensure they cannot commit any wrongdoing here. Under this operation, more than 100 Kalnemis have been apprehended so far. Now, no one in disguise will be able to harm Sanatan or deceive people."

According to police reports, over 150 suspicious fake spiritualists have been detained since the operation commenced, primarily from regions such as Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar.

The arrested individuals include some from minority communities who disguised themselves as 'babas', originating from various states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, among others.

In a recent operation, 66 suspicious individuals were detained in Udham Singh Nagar on Saturday alone.

'Operation Kalnemi' has garnered significant backing from Hindu religious organizations in the state, aiming to eradicate the presence of fake seers.

Prabodhanand Giri, the president of Hindu Rashtra Sena, endorsed the initiative and urged for its continuation until the Kumbh Mela, ensuring that the offenders face strict consequences.

He claimed that "jihadists" disguised in saffron are deceiving and robbing the public, asserting that 'Operation Kalnemi' is essential to safeguard Uttarakhand from such threats.

Some Hindu saints from Ayodhya have called for the nationwide implementation of this initiative.

The operation against fraudulent spiritual leaders has been named 'Operation Kalnemi', drawing inspiration from Kalnemi, a formidable Asura (demon) from Hindu mythology.
