New Delhi, May 12 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the Pahalgam terror attack as a personal loss, dedicating the valor and determination of the armed forces involved in Operation Sindoor to every mother, sister, and daughter across the nation.
In his address, PM Modi asserted, “Now every terror group understands the repercussions of targeting the sindoor (vermilion) of Indian women.”
He expressed that the incident deeply saddened him.
“I commend the resilience of our armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for their unwavering commitment that ensured Operation Sindoor met its goals,” he stated.
Earlier, Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai engaged in a hotline discussion with his Pakistani counterpart for the first time since the ceasefire agreement.
The military chiefs of India and Pakistan communicated around 5 p.m. to deliberate on methods for restoring peace along the border, according to official sources.
Reports indicate that Pakistan has expressed intentions not to escalate the conflict and has shown readiness to uphold the ceasefire.
The discussions between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) focused on halting military actions and gunfire, following the understanding reached after India’s anti-terror Operation Sindoor was paused on Pakistan’s request on May 10.
During the day, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai remarked that the multi-layered counter-drone and air defense system acted as a decisive barrier that thwarted Pakistan’s air assaults on the nights of May 9 and 10 amid Operation Sindoor.
The Army official noted that they were prepared for an aerial attack, leading to the implementation of an advanced counter-drone and air defense system.
Elaborating on the rationale behind Operation Sindoor, DGMO Ghai emphasized that the vessel of Pakistan’s wrongdoings overflowed with the Pahalgam terror attack, necessitating a lesson to be taught.
Air Marshal A.K. Bharti criticized the Pakistani military for failing to recognize India’s intention to limit its offensives against terrorists. “Our focus was solely on terrorism, and on May 7, we targeted only terrorist strongholds, but the Pakistani Army turned it into a broader conflict by supporting terrorists,” he stated.
He described the multi-layered and integrated air defense as an invulnerable shield that thwarted all attempts by Pakistani forces — including Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles — to breach Indian airspace.
The performance of older, battle-tested systems was commendable, complementing the capabilities of the Akash system, he noted.
