New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) Approximately 572,000 passengers have made their way back to India from the West Asia region. With the Qatar airspace partially operational, it is anticipated that between 8 and 10 non-scheduled commercial flights will be conducted to the country this Tuesday, as per the government’s announcement.
In the UAE, about 85 flights are expected to run throughout the day. Non-scheduled flights are ongoing, adhering to operational and safety protocols. Flights from Oman and Saudi Arabia to India are also continuing, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Both Kuwait and Bahrain maintain closed airspaces. Special non-scheduled flights are in service from Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia to various Indian destinations.
The ministry mentioned, "Due to airspace restrictions in Iran, Indian nationals are being assisted in traveling through Armenia and Azerbaijan. Given the airspace limitations in Israel, Indian nationals are being accommodated via Egypt and Jordan."
Furthermore, travel of Indian nationals is being coordinated through Jordan and Saudi Arabia due to the airspace closure in Iraq, the ministry added.
Regular communication with the Indian community in the region is being upheld, ensuring that necessary assistance is provided along with safety advisories.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels reported in the last 24 hours.
As reported, 18 Indian-flagged vessels carrying 485 Indian seafarers remain in the western Persian Gulf region. The Directorate General of Shipping, in collaboration with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian Missions, is actively monitoring the situation.
The DG Shipping has successfully facilitated the safe repatriation of over 959 Indian seafarers to date, including 9 in the last 24 hours. Port operations across India are functioning normally without any congestion, as confirmed by the maritime boards of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
