New Delhi, June 19 (NationPress) In a move that could spark a new political debate, Congress leader Udit Raj has asserted that Pakistan’s global reputation and influence are enhancing following Operation Sindoor, while India is experiencing ‘setbacks’ despite extensive diplomatic efforts.
“Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s international image and foreign policy have seen notable improvements. It is forging new alliances worldwide. What has India accomplished? The Modi administration must provide clarity. Not a single country has voiced support for India, nor have they shown robust backing despite PM Modi and his ministers' global visits,” Udit Raj stated in an interview with IANS.
Raj's comments come against the backdrop of a recent event where US President Donald Trump hosted Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir at the White House—a situation the Congress party is leveraging to highlight the perceived failures of India’s foreign policy.
His remarks are likely to provide the BJP with fresh grounds to criticize the Congress party, accusing it of appearing to align with the adversarial nation.
He further questioned PM Modi’s lack of response to Trump’s repeated suggestions about mediating a ceasefire amidst the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
“Yesterday, Trump reiterated for the fifteenth time that he has mediated between the two nations, despite India’s foreign secretary Vikram Misri proudly declaring India’s firm stance on terrorism and rejecting any third-party involvement in resolving Indo-Pak conflicts,” Raj noted.
“Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi silent? He should publicly refute the US President’s ongoing claims about facilitating a ceasefire. What prevents him from doing so?” he inquired.
He also suggested that the Prime Minister avoided visiting the US despite Trump’s invitation, as it could have resulted in significant embarrassment.
Following his meeting with General Asim Munir, US President Trump referred to PM Modi as a ‘fantastic man’ while also claiming credit for averting a war between India and Pakistan.
"I have great affection for Pakistan. I think Modi is a fantastic man. I spoke to him last night. We are looking to establish a trade deal with India. However, I intervened to stop a war between Pakistan and India,” Trump remarked.
