Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketers Sandeep Patil and Madan Lal have officially declared their exit from the Asian Legends League, citing significant apprehensions regarding the league’s governance, credibility, and professionalism. They emphasized that their personal principles and respect for the sport take precedence.
“Upon thorough reflection, I have formally withdrawn and distanced myself from the Asian Legends League. This choice stems from serious doubts pertaining to governance, credibility, and overall professionalism,” Patil mentioned in a video statement.
“Throughout my career, integrity and respect for the game have been essential, and I remain committed to those values. It is also disheartening to note that the frequent changes in scheduling have not aligned with my expectations,” he added.
Madan Lal voiced substantial concerns about the management, reliability, and professionalism of the league. In his statement, he confirmed his immediate withdrawal, urging the organizers to refrain from using his name or any association with him across all platforms.
He conveyed that the league's operations do not align with the values and standards he has upheld throughout his extensive career in Indian cricket. He also clarified that he will not participate in the Asian Legends League in the future.
“I have decided to immediately dissociate myself from the Asian Legends League and will not be linked with the league in any capacity,” Madan Lal asserted.
“This decision is necessitated by grave concerns regarding governance practices, organizational credibility, and overall professionalism, which are not in line with the standards, values, and sporting discipline I have represented throughout decades in Indian cricket,” he added.
Earlier, league commissioner Aakash Chopra also resigned, stating that he has no connection to the league’s upcoming season.
The second season of the league was set to take place from January 19 to February 1, 2026.
