Piyush Goyal Highlights Assam's Vast Investment Opportunities

Guwahati, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, stated on Tuesday that Assam possesses remarkable potential for investment across numerous sectors such as agriculture, sericulture, aquaculture, food processing, jute, and rubber plantation.
He proposed the establishment of helipads near national parks to attract affluent tourists to the region.
Goyal noted that in the past decade, the Northeast has undergone significant transformation, positioning itself as an attractive investment destination with excellent connectivity through rail, road, air, and waterways, coupled with advancements in digital technology, a high literacy rate, and a rich hospitality culture.
The Union Minister expressed that Assam has the capability to emerge as an automobile hub for Eastern India.
Piyush Goyal commended Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and vision for the state's development.
He remarked, “A leader shapes the team, and if the team is committed to driving initiatives forward, they can achieve extraordinary results.”
Furthermore, Goyal mentioned that no other state offers a tailor-made package for projects valued at Rs 100 crore.
Encouraging investors to consider Assam, Goyal assured that his ministry will assign nodal officers to provide support to those interested in launching projects.
Meanwhile, during an investor roundtable in the national capital, CM Sarma stated: “Assam is one of the most peaceful states in the country, with a significant reduction in the crime rate. We are accelerating projects with improved ease of doing business and single-window clearances. Our progress in infrastructure and industrial development has been remarkable,” he noted, highlighting the swift completion of the Patanjali project within just 150 days.
CM Sarma also announced the establishment of a semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, which will have the capacity to produce 48 million chips daily.
He added that gas transportation issues have been resolved with operationalized gas evacuation and connections under the National Gas Grid.
Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing setup of plug-and-play facilities in Guwahati, with 400 acres of land designated for industrial parks.
