Ayodhya, Jan 5 (NationPress) The saints and sages from Ayodhya shared their thoughts on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commemoration of the initial assault on the Somnath temple, which occurred 1,000 years ago. They applauded the unyielding spirit of the Hindu faith that has consistently stood firm against the challenges and violence posed by foreign invaders.
Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj, Mahant of Saket Bhavan Temple, Ayodhya Dham, referred to the attack in 1026 as an attempt to destroy the Hindu shrine and emphasized the bravery and resilience of the followers of Hinduism in reclaiming their glory.
He noted, "It has been a millennium since there was an effort to suppress the Sanatan culture. The power, courage, and valor of the Hindu faith have kept the Somnath temple standing tall despite numerous attempts to obliterate it," he explained.
Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj also expressed his full support for the Prime Minister, asserting that the tale of Somnath exemplifies the unbreakable courage of countless children of Bharat Mata who have defended our culture and civilization.
Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Ji Maharaj from the Yog Sadan Temple in Ayodhya Dham praised the Somnath temple as one of the most esteemed pilgrimage destinations for Hindus and credited the Prime Minister for the 'revival' of Sanatan culture.
“Since PM Modi took office, India is on the path to becoming Vishwaguru. The Somnath temple signifies deep reverence for over 100 crore Hindus. Nevertheless, some have attempted to intimidate the temple through brutal assaults,” he added.
He further remarked, “I commend PM Modi’s righteousness; he embodies the spirit of a saint and devoted leader, and under his guidance, the Sanatan culture and temples have flourished.”
Earlier today, in an Op-Ed, PM Modi articulated that the legacy of Somnath transcends mere architecture, symbolizing the courage and faith of generations who safeguarded India’s culture and civilization in the face of persistent assaults.
In his Op-Ed, the Prime Minister emphasized Somnath’s spiritual and civilizational significance as the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas referenced in the Dwadasha Jyotirling Stotram.
Nestled at Prabhas Patan along Gujarat’s western coast, the temple has long served as a hub of faith, culture, and maritime prosperity.
PM Modi recalled that Mahmud of Ghazni first attacked the shrine in January 1026, marking the onset of a series of invasions aimed at dismantling symbols of Indian civilization.
