Did PM Modi Praise Security Forces for Their Triumph Against Maoists in Chhattisgarh?

New Delhi, May 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the achievements of security forces who successfully neutralized numerous Maoists in Chhattisgarh.

In a social media post, the Prime Minister echoed sentiments shared by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who celebrated the victory of the security forces, highlighting that the Karreguttalu Hill—once dominated by red terror—now proudly displays the tricolour.

On his X account, the Prime Minister remarked, "This underscores that our initiative to eradicate Naxalism is progressing well. We are fully devoted to fostering peace in areas affected by Maoism and integrating them into the development mainstream."

He reiterated the Home Minister's statement, acknowledging that the Karreguttalu Hill has transitioned from a stronghold of terror to a symbol of national pride.

This hill served as the operational headquarters for major Maoist factions such as the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion 1, Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC), Telangana State Committee (TSC), and the Central Regional Committee (CRC), where training and strategic planning were conducted.

Union Home Minister Shah praised the security forces for executing this significant anti-Maoist operation in just 21 days, expressing satisfaction that there were no casualties among the security personnel during this mission.

He commended the Central Reserve Police Force, Special Task Force, and District Reserve Guard members who courageously confronted the Maoists amidst challenging weather conditions and difficult terrain, stating that the nation is proud of their bravery.

"Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are resolute in eradicating Maoism from its roots. I assure citizens that India will be free of Maoists by March 31, 2026," he affirmed.

This operation in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur is a pivotal achievement in the anti-Maoist campaign.

Executed collaboratively by the Chhattisgarh Police and Central Armed Police Forces, the operation lasted 21 days, leading to multiple confrontations on the Karreguttalu Hill, a known Maoist bastion.

Security forces recovered the remains of 31 Maoists, including 16 women, and confiscated 35 weapons.

Among the identified Maoists, 28 had a cumulative reward of ₹1.72 crore.

The operation specifically aimed at key armed factions like the PLGA Battalion, CRC Company, and TSC.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, the Karreguttalu Hill, which stretches over 60 km, had been a sanctuary for approximately 300-350 armed Maoist cadres.

Following thorough intelligence gathering, the operation commenced on April 21, 2025.

The multi-agency team utilized both technical and human intelligence to locate hideouts and arms caches, thereby avoiding casualties from explosive traps.

The operation led to the dismantling of 214 bunkers and the retrieval of 450 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), along with substantial amounts of arms and supplies.

Security forces demonstrated resilience despite facing harsh conditions.

While 18 soldiers suffered injuries from IED blasts, fortunately, none were life-threatening.

This mission dismantled four Maoist technical units and showcased the effectiveness of a coordinated strategy between state and central forces.

The overarching campaign, led by Union Minister Amit Shah, seeks to diminish Maoist influence through enhanced security measures, development programs, and focused operations.

Since 2014, the number of districts affected by Maoist activities has decreased significantly, reflecting the enduring impact of these strategic initiatives.
