BJP sweeps Gujarat local body polls 2025: wins 14 of 15 corporations

The results, based on elections held on 26 April 2025, reinforced the BJP's deep organisational grip on India's sixth-largest state by population.
Key Results at a Glance
According to trends and results available by 6:30 pm IST, the BJP won 868 seats in municipal corporations against the Indian National Congress's (Congress) 72 seats and 12 for others. The party is reported to have won 14 out of 15 municipal corporations. In municipalities, the BJP secured 1,965 seats compared to 458 for the Congress and 177 for others.
At the panchayat level, the BJP won 852 seats in district panchayats against Congress's 128 and others' 55, taking 33 of 34 district panchayats. In taluka panchayats, the BJP claimed 3,469 seats, the Congress 944, and others 457.
