How Did PM Modi Honor Dr. Kasturirangan's Contributions to Science and Education?

New Delhi, April 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday offered a heartfelt homage to the distinguished Indian scientist Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, who led the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 1994 to 2003. PM Modi emphasized that Dr. Kasturirangan's remarkable contributions to science, education, and the evolution of India's space program will forever be cherished.

During the 121st episode of his monthly radio program, 'Mann Ki Baat,' Prime Minister Modi remarked, "Just two days ago, we lost one of our greatest scientists, Dr. K. Kasturirangan. Whenever I had the opportunity to meet him, we engaged in numerous discussions about the potential of India's youth, modern education, and space science."

"His legacy in science, education, and elevating India's space endeavors will always resonate. Under his stewardship, ISRO attained a new identity. The advancements in our space program during his leadership garnered global acknowledgment. Many of the satellites currently utilized by India were launched under Dr. Kasturirangan's guidance," the Prime Minister added.

Highlighting another significant facet of Dr. Kasturirangan's inspiring character, PM Modi said, "One of his remarkable traits is something the younger generation can truly benefit from. He consistently valued innovation. His vision of continual learning and exploration is profoundly encouraging."

PM Modi also acknowledged Dr. Kasturirangan's essential role in molding India's educational landscape.

"He played a crucial role in shaping the new National Education Policy and proposed a 'forward-looking' educational framework for the contemporary 21st century," he stated.

The Prime Minister expressed that Dr. Kasturirangan's selfless dedication to the nation and his role in nation-building will always be honored.

"I extend my humble tributes to Dr. K. Kasturirangan," PM Modi concluded.

Previously, on Friday, Prime Minister Modi shared his sorrow regarding the scientist's passing on X, stating, "I am profoundly saddened by the loss of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, an influential figure in India's scientific and educational journey. His visionary leadership and altruistic contributions to the nation will be eternally remembered," he posted.

Reflecting on Dr. Kasturirangan's accomplishments at ISRO, PM Modi noted, "He dedicated himself to ISRO, propelling India's space program to unprecedented heights, for which we gained international acclaim. His leadership also oversaw ambitious satellite launches and emphasized innovation."

PM Modi further recognized Dr. Kasturirangan's substantial contributions to the education sector, asserting that India will always be thankful for his efforts in drafting the National Education Policy (NEP) and for ensuring that "learning in India became more holistic and forward-looking."

"He was also a remarkable mentor for many young scientists and researchers. My thoughts are with his family, students, scientists, and countless admirers. Om Shanti," the Prime Minister added.
