New Delhi, Nov 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building in Nava Raipur during his visit to the state, alongside unveiling the statue of the former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who envisioned the establishment of the state in 2000.
The grand unveiling, which coincided with Chhattisgarh’s State Formation Day, was celebrated with enthusiasm and pride among the locals. The new Assembly building is designed as an eco-conscious "green structure," featuring solar energy systems and rainwater harvesting to support sustainable governance.
Residents shared their happiness and pride during an interview with IANS, expressing their sentiments about this significant occasion.
"Today is a moment of pride for everyone, as it is our state’s formation day. Atal Bihari Vajpayee dreamed of a prosperous Chhattisgarh. With this new Vidhan Sabha, PM Modi has made that dream a reality. The building is beautifully adorned. We are grateful to him," remarked a resident from Raipur.
Another local commented: "This is a proud moment for the people of Chhattisgarh. Atal Ji established this state, and under PM Modi’s leadership, we are witnessing unparalleled development. I feel blessed to be from Chhattisgarh, celebrating 25 years of its existence."

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated ‘Shanti Shikhar’, a center focused on spiritual education, peace, and meditation, established by the Brahma Kumaris. While praising the organization’s contributions, he remarked, “Institutions such as the Brahma Kumaris are essential to nation-building. They emphasize action over rhetoric. I believe this center will become a focal point for efforts towards global peace.”
Earlier, PM Modi visited the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Child Heart Hospital in Nava Raipur, interacting with nearly 2,500 children who received free heart surgeries through the ‘Gift of Life’ initiative. He awarded them with “Gift of Life” certificates and motivated them to chase their dreams with confidence and optimism.
Later, the Prime Minister was set to inaugurate the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and the Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum in Nava Raipur. He will also participate in the Silver Jubilee celebrations commemorating 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s formation and launch development initiatives worth Rs 14,000 crore in various sectors including roads, industry, healthcare, and energy.
