During the 128th episode of his monthly radio show 'Mann Ki Baat', he remarked, "I consistently encourage everyone to forward the principle of 'Vocal for Local'. Recently, at the G-20 Summit, when it came to presenting gifts to various world leaders, I reiterated this principle, 'Vocal for Local'. The gifts I presented on behalf of my fellow countrymen were selected with this principle in mind."
"At the G-20, I presented a bronze sculpture of Nataraja to South African President. This is a magnificent representation of Chola-era craftsmanship, deeply rooted in the cultural legacy of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu," PM Modi pointed out.
He further shared that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney received a silver horse replica, showcasing the artistry of Udaipur, Rajasthan, while Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was given a silver Buddha replica, highlighting the renowned silver art of Telangana and Karimnagar.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was bestowed with a silver mirror adorned with floral designs, symbolizing the traditional metal craftsmanship of Karimnagar, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese received a brass 'uruli' from Mannar, Kerala.
"My goal was to showcase Indian crafts, art, and traditions to the global audience, providing a platform for our artisans' talent," PM Modi emphasized.
He noted that millions across India have embraced the spirit of 'Vocal for Local'.
"This year, during your festive shopping trips, you may have observed a trend. People's choices and the items brought home clearly indicated a shift back towards Swadeshi. Individuals were intentionally opting for Indian products. Even small shopkeepers sensed this transformation. This time, the youth also played a significant role in advancing the 'Vocal for Local' initiative," he remarked.
With the Christmas and New Year shopping season on the horizon, the Prime Minister added, "A new wave of shopping is about to begin in the coming days. I urge you once again, remember the mantra of 'Vocal for Local', purchase only what is produced within our nation, and promote only what embodies the hard work of our citizens."
