Hyderabad, April 8 (NationPress) The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has apprehended a police inspector and a sub-inspector stationed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police outpost for soliciting Rs 5 lakh and accepting Rs 2 lakh as an initial payment.
During the operation, investigators from the Anti-Corruption Bureau uncovered Rs 33.97 lakh in cash at the inspector's residence.
Sub-Inspector U. K. Siddeshwar and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah were detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau's Ranga Reddy range unit after they demanded Rs 5 lakh and took Rs 2 lakh from the complainant, as reported on Wednesday.
The bribe was allegedly requested to facilitate the filing of the chargesheet and to avoid implicating or arresting the complainant's family members in a case registered at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station in Shamshabad.
Following the sting operation, searches conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau at Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah’s home resulted in the confiscation of Rs 33.97 lakh in cash, along with several property documents that are now under investigation, according to the anti-graft agency.
