Did Prabhas Seek a Genuine Entertainer Over Action Excess in ‘The RajaSaab’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) Actor Prabhas revealed his significant impact on the storyline of the eagerly awaited pan-India film ‘The RajaSaab’. The film's trailer was released on Monday.
The trailer provides a deeper insight into the film's narrative and emotional depth. In this project, Prabhas takes on the role of the antagonist, while Sanjay Dutt portrays his rival. Dutt's character seems to wield power over fear through the art of hypnotism, whereas Prabhas’ character shares a close bond with his grandmother, played by Zarina Wahab.
The protagonist’s quest for understanding leads him to a deserted haveli, a location that conceals the film’s most profound mysteries. The trailer hints that the house evolves into a trap, pitting the mind against the body. Dutt’s hypnotist character is depicted as a serene yet ominous presence, exerting control and manipulation instead of raw force to dominate those who enter his realm.
Reflecting on his time with the film, Prabhas stated, “The three years of stress and responsibility for ‘Raja Saab’ brought tears to Maruthi garu’s eyes. Upon our first meeting, I expressed that films were leaning too heavily towards action and that we ought to deliver a genuine entertainer to our audience. This is how our horror-comedy emerged.”
He added, “Vishwa Prasad garu continually supported Maruthi garu’s script. Upon hearing the climax, I became an admirer of Maruthi garu’s writing. I genuinely pondered whether he penned it with a pen or a machine gun. Such a climax is unprecedented even in horror-comedy films. You must see it and judge for yourself. After 15 years, Maruthi is providing full Darling entertainment. The film is set for release this Sankranti. We hope all Sankranti films succeed, and that ‘The RajaSaab’ also turns into a blockbuster.”
Visually, ‘The RajaSaab’ appears to be a VFX-laden spectacle, featuring stylized horror visuals, intricate set designs, and atmospheric effects that play a pivotal role in crafting the film’s universe and heightening its fear factor.
Director Maruthi commented, “A tremendous amount of effort went into this film. It was no easy feat. When we brought Prabhas garu onboard, we agreed that everything had to live up to that standard. I say this with complete assurance: anyone who enters the theater will witness the dedication we’ve invested. One hundred percent. After three years of hard work and struggles, we have brought The RajaSaab to this point. Our sole aim was to entertain viewers during this festival.”
“With numerous films debuting concurrently, Vishwa Prasad garu fearlessly backed such a large-scale project. This film will stand out in any language because of the genre's immense potential. We have elevated it to the next level,” he added.
Directed by Maruthi and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory, the film is set to release globally on January 9, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
