President Urges Armed Forces to Prioritize Cyber Warfare and Terrorism Preparedness

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) President Murmu stated that the armed forces must not only protect India's national interests but also equip themselves for modern security threats such as cyber warfare and terrorism.
While addressing student officers and faculty at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, Tamil Nadu, she remarked, “In the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, it is essential to be adequately prepared for any scenario. We must safeguard our national interests while also gearing up for emerging national security challenges like cyber warfare and terrorism.
She expressed her belief that the programs at the Defence Services Staff College would adequately prepare student officers for greater responsibilities and develop their skills as strategists capable of navigating complex challenges effectively.
The President acknowledged the significant role the college plays in training and educating future leaders of the Indian armed forces, as well as officers from friendly nations and select civilian officials.
She commended the Defence personnel for their unwavering commitment to the ethos of 'Nation First', which deserves commendation.
Moreover, the President welcomed the increase of women officers assuming command roles across all three services.
“I am excited to learn that there are female officers among you in this course. I hope to see a growing number of women participating in this program in the near future,” she expressed.
She expressed optimism about witnessing more women joining the armed forces, where they can showcase their remarkable skills and explore new possibilities in previously uncharted areas.
The President noted that India is on the rise, with the global community recognizing its advancements across various sectors, including Defence.
“India is progressing towards indigenization and self-reliance to ensure that the armed forces are prepared for future challenges. Our country is evolving into a significant Defence manufacturing hub, positioning itself as a dependable Defence partner and a leading exporter,” she stated.
