Gandhinagar, April 14 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu emphasized on Tuesday that cyber security, data protection, and digital diplomacy have become as vital as traditional military power during her address at the fifth convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gujarat.

She articulated that the digital era has fundamentally altered the landscape of national security, with cybercrime, phishing schemes, and data breaches surfacing as significant threats to the nation.

“Today, cyber security transcends mere safety; it is a core element of digital trust,” she noted, highlighting the necessity for institutions to consistently enhance their capabilities to confront modern threats driven by evolving technologies.

Murmu pointed out that security cannot be restricted to geographical confines or traditional armaments.

“The concept of security extends beyond territorial borders and conventional weapons,” she affirmed, stating that cyber security, data security, and strategic collaboration have gained equal importance to conventional defense capabilities in maintaining national stability.

She underlined the urgent need for a new breed of trained professionals adept at managing intricate digital threats.

"The nation demands proficient police personnel capable of efficiently addressing cybercrime, alongside forensic specialists who can deliver evidence meeting legal standards. Contemporary security frameworks necessitate a blend of technological proficiency and investigative acumen," she declared.

President Murmu asserted that institutions like RRU bear a growing responsibility in equipping the workforce of tomorrow.

She elaborated that in the current scenario, security is not restricted to physical territories but extends deeply into the digital systems that regulate communication, governance, and finance.

Touching on government initiatives, she mentioned ongoing efforts to bolster self-reliance in the defense sector.

Murmu acknowledged that collaborations between academic institutions and industry, especially in advanced technology domains, are pivotal in fostering long-term security readiness.

“The government is making steadfast efforts to establish India as self-sufficient in the production of security-related weapons and equipment,” she stated.

Regarding artificial intelligence, she commented: "India is solidifying its position in the global technology arena. Initiatives such as the India AI Mission are anticipated to have a significant impact on governance, security systems, and economic advancement."

“Today, cyber security is not just about safety; it is integral to digital trust,” she reiterated, underscoring the significance of AI-driven systems in future security architectures.

Murmu also acknowledged the recent achievements of security forces in combating left-wing extremism, noting that "previously troubled areas are now experiencing peace and development."

She pointed out that coordinated efforts by security agencies have played a crucial role in restoring stability in various regions.

On the subject of social inclusion, she celebrated the increasing involvement of women in technical and security-related fields.

She stated that the accomplishments of female students in engineering and security disciplines signify a positive shift.

“The vigor of our youth is the cornerstone of a secure and prosperous future for our nation,” she said, addressing the graduating cohort.

The President congratulated the 562 students who earned degrees in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

She remarked that convocation ceremonies signify the transition of students into accountable professionals who contribute to nation-building.

She urged them to strive for a secure, equitable, and self-sufficient India, affirming that their involvement will be crucial in fortifying the nation’s future security framework.

An honorary doctorate was also awarded to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during the event in recognition of his contributions to national security.
