Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Feb 20 (NationPress) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has strongly criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of engaging in personal attacks rather than concentrating on governance, development, and creating job opportunities for the youth of the state.
When questioned about the serious allegations against Gaurav Gogoi regarding potential links to Pakistan, Priyanka Gandhi implied that it was inappropriate to target families and children with falsehoods.
“There is no need to attack someone’s family or children by spreading lies. The Chief Minister should prioritize the development of Assam. What the youth of Assam need today is jobs and employment opportunities,” she stated.
As the Assembly elections approach, the Congress leader remarked that the Chief Minister is employing fear tactics.
She defended Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, labeling him a positive leader committed to value-based politics.
“Gaurav Gogoi stands for positive change and values in politics in Assam. The Chief Minister seems apprehensive as elections near,” she mentioned.
Priyanka Gandhi further rejected Sarma’s allegations regarding Gogoi’s supposed Pakistan links, emphasizing that such claims would not resonate with the people of Assam.
“The accusations made by the Chief Minister against Gaurav Gogoi are not credible among the people of Assam,” she affirmed.
Additionally, Priyanka Gandhi spoke about the controversy surrounding celebrated Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, urging political factions to refrain from involving artists in political disputes.
“Zubeen Garg is the essence of Assam. He transcends politics, and there should be no political agendas tied to him,” she remarked, acknowledging his status as a cherished cultural figure of the state.
Priyanka Gandhi reiterated that the Congress party intends to focus on pressing issues for the common public, particularly unemployment, rising prices, and overall development, as they prepare for the elections.
She concluded by stating that the party is ready to politically and democratically challenge the ruling BJP, with a focus on respect, values, and governance that centers on the people.
