Patna, Nov 8 (NationPress) Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday delivered a scathing critique of the BJP’s central leadership and the Election Commission, accusing them of engaging in "vote theft."

During a rally in Purnea, she remarked, "Narendra Modi, the citizens of this nation have seen through your facade. The public is no longer swayed by your falsehoods, which is why you have resorted to stealing votes."

Priyanka contended that the higher-ups in the Election Commission were complicit in this alleged conspiracy.

"The Constitution empowers citizens to vote, determining the fate of governments. However, as the BJP sensed a shift in public sentiment against them, they began to undermine this right through vote theft. Narendra Modi is a vote thief, and alongside him are Gyanesh Kumar, Vivek Joshi, and S.S. Sandhu, the senior officials of the Election Commission. They are toying with the Constitution and the essence of democracy," she stated.

She also criticized the Prime Minister for his use of disrespectful language.

"His rhetoric is filled with terms like guns, kidnapping, and murder. It is unbecoming of a Prime Minister to discuss such violent topics. Narendra Modi's standards have sunk to an alarming low."

Priyanka referenced a tragic incident in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a farmer reportedly died while waiting for fertilizer, to highlight the BJP government’s failure to address agricultural issues.

She asserted that the Modi administration had not established new institutions in the nation; rather, it has primarily favored industrialists.

"Land in Bihar was handed over to his industrialist ally at a mere one rupee per acre. If that land had been allocated to the youth, they could have secured their future," she remarked.

Priyanka Gandhi noted that Modi rarely addresses the concerns of the populace.

"Narendra Modi only appears during election periods, and when he does, he talks about irrelevant matters instead of confronting real issues. In the Congress, I have witnessed Prime Ministers engaging with the people, listening to their grievances. Everyone was encouraged to voice their concerns. Speaking out against injustice and asking questions is a cherished tradition in this country," she stated.

She further claimed that the recurring examination paper leaks in Bihar are robbing young individuals of opportunities.

"The youth in Bihar take exams, but the papers keep leaking. Years of their lives are wasted while they await exams and job openings. Numerous government positions in Bihar remain unfilled, yet the youth are denied employment," she said.

Priyanka Gandhi highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s recent political initiatives as efforts to safeguard voting rights.

"My brother, Rahul Gandhi, after the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, launched the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. This initiative was designed to protect your rights from these vote thieves. 65 lakh votes were removed from the voter list in Bihar because the BJP government fears the public. Now the people are rising and declaring -- either develop the state or relinquish power."

She asserted that voting for the Mahagathbandhan would yield direct benefits.

"Your vote for the Mahagathbandhan will curtail inflation, supply cylinders at Rs 500, allocate land to the landless, deposit Rs 2,500 into women’s accounts, provide a pension of Rs 1,500 to widows and the elderly, and ensure a salary of Rs 30,000 for Jeevika sisters."

Priyanka Gandhi also evoked Bihar’s rich historical legacy.

"Bihar has played a pivotal role in nation-building -- the people of Bihar must recognize their strength. It was your ancestors who laid the groundwork for the Ganga-Jamuni culture in this nation. The farmers in this region sparked a movement that inspired Mahatma Gandhi, who journeyed thousands of miles to initiate the Satyagraha from this very land," she concluded.

Point of View

It is crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised by Priyanka Gandhi regarding the integrity of the electoral process and the role of the Election Commission. Her emphasis on protecting voting rights resonates deeply within the democratic framework. It is imperative that all political parties prioritize the needs of the citizens and uphold the Constitution.
