BJP MLA T.S. Srivatsa Demands Investigation into Alleged Rs 900 Crore Land Scam in Mysuru
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru/Mysuru, March 10 (NationPress) T.S. Srivatsa, the BJP MLA for Krishnaraja constituency in Mysuru, is calling for an in-depth investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the registration and later cancellation of 24 acres and 10 guntas of land in Survey No. 4 of Kurubarahalli village. He claims that these discrepancies could point to a scam amounting to nearly Rs 900 crore.
During a press conference in Mysuru, Srivatsa raised serious concerns about how government land was initially registered, only to have that registration subsequently revoked. He has urged the state government to thoroughly investigate the entire process and hold accountable those responsible.
Calling for stringent measures, he has appealed to the Chief Minister, the Revenue Minister, and the district in-charge minister to file criminal cases against the revenue officials and registration authorities involved, emphasizing that breaches of the law will not be tolerated.
Srivatsa mentioned that he would address this issue in the ongoing Assembly session, and noted that he had already informed the Leader of the Opposition about the situation.
He claimed that there were significant irregularities in how the land registration was annulled. According to him, when the land was first registered, all family members involved had signed the documentation. However, during the cancellation, only a single individual's signature was present.
“What is the legal standing of this? It raises serious questions,” the BJP leader remarked.
He further indicated that substantial financial transactions had occurred concerning the land deal and stressed that these transactions should adhere to the regulations set by the Income Tax Department and other enforcement authorities.
“When large financial dealings occur, they must comply with Income Tax laws. Yet, in this case, the transaction seems to have been abruptly reversed,” he added.
Additionally, Srivatsa pointed out that this incident occurred within Mysuru city limits, close to the foothills of Chamundi Hill, and questioned why the district administration had not taken action sooner.
He stated that the district-in-charge minister should have been vigilant and ensured the protection of government land.
Srivatsa also raised doubts about whether the registration cancellation was done to gain legal advantages and questioned why no arrests had been made if laws were broken.
He highlighted that similar incidents have previously been reported in Mysuru and suggested that this case might be yet another instance of misconduct.
“If the land has reverted to government control, the records should reflect that. Yet, that has not occurred. Why hasn’t the name been removed from the official website?” he queried.
He also scrutinized the role of revenue officials, responding to the district administration's claim of a technical glitch in the software by stating that such explanations only sow further distrust regarding the system's operation.
Referring to a previous MUDA case in Mysuru, he noted that after a complaint was made, the involved site was returned, yet he questioned why no punitive measures had been taken against those accountable.
“The district administration must ensure accountability. If such incidents persist without repercussions, suspicion will only grow,” he cautioned.
Srivatsa warned that a thorough investigation could unveil more troubling details, hinting that this matter might be part of a larger land scam.
He also mentioned recent reports of rising drug-related activities in Mysuru, indicating a decline in administrative oversight in the city.
Several BJP leaders, including Mysuru City BJP President L. Nagendra, city spokesperson M.A. Mohan, Mandal President Gopalraje Urs, former Mayor Shivakumar, city general secretary Somasundar, city vice-president Vishweshwaraiah, media convener Maheshraje Urs, and co-convener Santosh Kumar, were present at the press conference.
