Amaravati, April 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has initiated a probe through a three-member committee regarding the tragic wall collapse at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam, which led to the unfortunate demise of eight devotees.
The incident, which occurred during the early hours when devotees were queuing for tickets to participate in the annual festival, Chandanotsavam, also injured four others.
Expressing his profound grief over the incident, the Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for each family of the deceased. Additionally, he pledged employment for one family member from each of the bereaved families on an outsourcing basis within the temples managed by the Endowments Department.
For the injured, assistance of Rs 3 lakh will be provided, as the Chief Minister assured the affected families of the State government's unwavering support.
CM Naidu remarked on the heartbreaking nature of the tragedy, stating that it was painful to witness such an occurrence when numerous devotees had gathered to witness the Nijarupam (true form of the Lord) on Wednesday, only to have a wall collapse due to heavy rainfall at midnight, leading to fatalities.
Upon receiving news of the incident, CM Naidu conducted a teleconference with Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Vangalapudi Anitha, MP Bharat, and the temple trustee, Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
He sought details of the incident and the medical care being extended to the injured, directing officials to ensure prompt emergency medical services.
