Raisen, Nov 27 (NationPress) The governing bodies in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh have prolonged the prohibitory measures as local law enforcement has been unable to apprehend the alleged rape perpetrator for the sixth day in a row.
Violent communal protests erupted in the area on Wednesday, primarily because the accused is purportedly part of a minority community.
The prohibitory measures, enforced by the Raisen district administration, restrict gatherings of more than four individuals in the vicinity, while additional police units from neighboring districts have been dispatched to bolster security.
This latest development follows a day when enraged demonstrators clashed with law enforcement, throwing stones when they were prevented from advancing towards a Muslim settlement.
Throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, local residents and members of various Hindu organizations organized protests across different areas in the district.
The police have initiated outreach efforts targeting youth in schools and colleges, engaging in discussions with them, especially focusing on young women. They are advising students and staff to be vigilant about identifying any anti-social elements near educational institutions.
On Thursday, police officials reported that the situation in the Gauharganj area remained calm.
Previously, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav led a high-level meeting at Police Headquarters with senior officials including the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Chief Secretary, directing necessary actions.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the incident and the challenges in managing the escalating situation, the Chief Minister transferred Raisen District SP Vivek Kumar Pandey.
On November 21, a six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the Raisen district, allegedly by a man identified by police as Salman (23).
The young girl is currently receiving care at AIIMS, Bhopal. The State Congress President Jitu Patwari visited AIIMS and met with the victim’s family on Wednesday.
