New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) Cricket enthusiasts nationwide are hoping fervently and performing puja to bless team India's triumph over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final at the Dubai International Stadium.
In conversations with IANS from Patna and Mumbai, these fans voiced their optimism regarding India's success.
One ardent supporter, brimming with confidence about India's performance, even extended early congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the match commenced.
Fans adorned a flexi board featuring the Indian team with 'Vijay tilak', chili, and lemon as protective offerings against any negative influences, while also conducting aarti.
A group of 31 young Brahmins conducted a puja session, chanting mantras and heralding India's victory by blowing a conch shell.
Another cricket aficionado, Arjun Kumar, expressed certainty about India clinching the trophy, stating, “With our team's strong performance in Dubai, I am confident India will prevail.” The fans raised slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai and cheered for the Indian squad.
In Chandigarh, Arshdeep Singh's coach, Jaswant Rai, commented, “New Zealand has a solid batting lineup, but they recently played a semi-final in Karachi. Adapting to Dubai's pitches will be crucial. India has been continuously playing here, giving them an advantage.”
Rai remarked, “New Zealand won't be able to set a target over 300 runs in this venue. On this pitch, spinners will thrive. We have Shreyas Iyer, K L Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Shubham Gill, and Virat Kohli.”
Rai added, “New Zealand possesses quality spinners like Williamson and Ravichandran. Both teams are formidable, but the conditions favor India. India will win today with our depth in batting, including Ravinder Jadeja, Akshay Patel, and Hardik Pandya.”
He also praised Shammi's outstanding bowling form following his return from injury.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, cricket fans echoed confidence in India's prospects for victory.
They predicted that Kohli and Rohit would score centuries, and that Shami would take five wickets against New Zealand, securing India's success. “Our top and middle order is strong, and even if New Zealand scores over 300, India will still win,” stated a fan. Another mentioned the match would be thrilling given the strength of both teams.
