Akola, Nov 8 (NationPress) NCP(SP) leader Sharad Pawar expressed his views on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Pune land deal involving Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.
The senior Pawar stated that since Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis labeled the issue as 'serious', it is imperative that an inquiry be conducted into the land transaction involving Parth Pawar’s firm, Amedea Enterprises LLP. He insisted that the community deserves to see the real situation.
This statement from Sharad Pawar came shortly after Dy CM Ajit Pawar announced the cancellation of the sale deed related to the land deal in Pune's upscale Mundhwa-Koregaon Park.
Sharad Pawar remarked, “I cannot comment on this matter. However, the chief minister has characterized it as serious, warranting an investigation and transparency before society.
“The state government has constituted an inquiry committee. We must await the findings of this committee’s report.”
When questioned about his perspective given that Ajit Pawar is his nephew, he clarified, “There is a distinction between administration, politics, and family. In our electoral contests, my grandsons and Ajit Pawar have competed against each other; family ties do not influence political positions, only our ideologies.”
Regarding Supriya Sule's more lenient stance on Parth Pawar in the land deal controversy, Sharad Pawar mentioned that it may simply be her perspective.
On whether there has been an attempt to target Ajit Pawar in this controversy, he stated, “I cannot comment.”
Sharad Pawar’s remarks are significant as Dy CM Ajit Pawar faced mounting pressure from the opposition to resign and for a case to be registered against his son regarding the land deal.
“No money was exchanged in this land deal. The transaction documents have been nullified. A six-member committee led by Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge has been established to investigate the alleged irregularities and produce a report. I anticipate that the committee will operate with full transparency,” asserted Ajit Pawar.
He reiterated that no financial transactions occurred in the Pune land deal. Two FIRs have already been filed, and police will ensure a transparent investigation.
Ajit Pawar also claimed ignorance about the details of the Pune land deal transaction and stated that the committee would examine how the sale deed was registered.
Meanwhile, regarding the Bihar Assembly elections, Sharad Pawar noted that the populace is seeking change, despite Bihar’s economic hardships, as its citizens are politically aware. “I would not be surprised if the ruling alliance loses in Bihar.”
Discussing the opposition's strategy for local body elections in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar stated, “Decisions will be made collectively.”
