Mumbai, Nov 6 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar has asserted that he is not remotely associated with the controversial high-value land deal in Pune's upscale Mundhwa-Koregaon Park, which involves his son, Parth Pawar. He made it clear that he had no involvement in the transaction.
Supporting the investigation initiated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Pawar stated that this move is justified. He reiterated his commitment to legality and insisted on strict measures against any misuse of power.
“I have never instructed any officials to benefit my relatives, be it close or distant. I have never made any calls to direct officers. As Deputy Chief Minister, I advise all staff that anyone who misuses my name for illicit activities will not have my support. I strictly operate within the bounds of the law,” he asserted.
He further stated, “I have no ties to the deal and have not told any officials to advantage relatives or party associates. If my name has been misused, I demand stringent action against those responsible.”
Pawar emphasized, “As children grow up, they act independently. However, I have not contacted any officials concerning this matter, nor do I have any link to it. I adhere to the constitution and the law, and I strive to ensure others do the same. I will comment further once I have more detailed information,” he added.
Previously, Parth Pawar stated, “I have not committed any wrongdoing.”
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis indicated that he is gathering all relevant information regarding the issue from the Revenue Department, the Inspector General of Registration, and Land Records. He has ordered thorough investigations. The emerging issues are serious, and clarity will follow upon receiving the appropriate information.
Fadnavis' actions come in response to accusations from former opposition leader and Shiv Sena UBT member Ambadas Danve, who alleged that Ajit Pawar misused his power to facilitate a land transaction valued at Rs 1,800 crore, acquired for just Rs 300 crore with a minimal stamp duty of Rs 500.
“Parth Pawar’s company Amedia, which has a mere share capital of Rs 1 lakh, managed to secure such expensive land. This scandal necessitates an investigation. Additionally, the revenue department has suspended Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale and Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru for their involvement in the transaction,” he stated.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed that the department will examine the case following a formal complaint from anti-corruption activist Anjali Damania.
Danve claimed that a 40-acre plot in the Mundhwa-Koregaon Park area, allegedly classified as government land under the 'Watan' category (protected under the Bombay Inferior Village Watans Abolition Act, 1958), was sold to Amedia Enterprises LLP for around Rs 300 crore.
Notably, Parth Pawar is registered as a partner in the firm, and its registered address corresponds with his home in Pune's Yashwant Nagar.
Danve alleged that the land's market value is significantly higher than the sale price, raising suspicions about undervaluation.
“The company is now planning to develop an IT park and data center on the site. Parth Pawar should address this matter publicly, so other young individuals can understand the secrets behind their success!” he remarked.
