Mumbai, Feb 25 (NationPress) The creators behind Prime Video's highly anticipated series, "Suzhal - The Vortex Season 2", Pushkar and Gayatri shared insights regarding the storyline of this gripping drama.
As Sakkarai probes the chilling murder of activist lawyer and social worker Chellappa, he becomes entangled in a web of deceit, secrecy, crime, conspiracy, and death. The complexity of the mystery escalates with the introduction of eight seemingly unrelated young women, who emerge as key suspects.
The upcoming season is set against the vibrant backdrop of the Ashtakaali festival in the fictional village of Kaalipattanam, Tamil Nadu. Pushkar and Gayatri have skillfully integrated the festival into the nerve-wracking narrative of "Suzhal - The Vortex Season 2".
Gayatri commented, “These festivals aren’t widely recognized or celebrated, even within Tamil Nadu. Each of these micro festivals is rich in mythology, yet most remain undocumented. Our team investigates their history primarily through oral traditions, conducting interviews—especially with the elderly—to gather insights about their significance.”
Pushkar elaborated, “These celebrations occur along the beach for 10-12 days, attracting lakhs of attendees. However, outside the local community, few are aware of the magnitude of these festivals.”
Reflecting on how these elements influenced the story arc for season 2, Pushkar noted, “During our research, we discovered the Ashatakali festival, which is an offshoot of Dusshera. While Dusshera adheres to specific mythology, we found that its origins are linked to the legend of Ashatakali, which involves eight Kalis. This inspired the concept of eight women as primary suspects in a crime, forming the foundation of the narrative we are now developing.”
Produced by Wallwatcher Films, the series is directed by Bramma and Sarjun KM. The cast features Kathir and Aishwarya Rajesh reprising their lead roles, alongside Lal, Saravanan, Gouri Kishan (Muthu), Samyuktha Vishwanathan (Naachi), Monisha Blessy (Muppi), Rini (Gaandhari), Shrisha (Veera), Abhirami Bose (Senbagam), Nikhila Sankar (Sandhanam), Kalaivani Bhaskar (Ulagu), and Ashwini Nambiar in significant roles. Additionally, Manjima Mohan and Kayal Chandran will appear in special roles for season 2.
"Suzhal—The Vortex Season 2" is set to premiere on Prime Video in India and over 240 countries and territories globally on February 28, available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
