UDF Candidate Radhakrishnan Critiques Left Government in Kerala Elections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kottayam (Kerala), March 29 (NationPress) Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, the Congress-backed United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate, has launched a strong critique against the CPI-M-led Left government in Kerala as the state approaches the April 9 Assembly elections, accusing them of practicing "partiality" and "corruption".
In an interview with IANS, Radhakrishnan stated: "The Left government has normalized corruption. We require a transparent administration. Their focus is solely on advancing the interests of party members, particularly those who are close to the leadership. This neglects the broader party, the state, and the public's welfare."
He highlighted the issue of migration, mentioning: "While Kerala values education, there are insufficient job opportunities available for graduates. Jobs are primarily allocated to party loyalists, with numerous backdoor appointments hindering fair access for the general populace."
Radhakrishnan expressed concern over the lack of an impartial government, asserting: "People are yearning for a fair administration."
He also accused the government of favoritism in criminal cases, saying: "We have endured hardships for a decade. The Left government either overreacts or fails to act altogether. They consistently align with one side in criminal matters, attempting to suppress the opposing side, which has become commonplace here."
Furthermore, he criticized the government's approach to development, stating: "In Kerala, development initiatives are merely for show, not for the citizens."
Radhakrishnan pointed out the inadequate response to natural disasters, saying: "Despite the devastating floods, the government did not provide appropriate support. Promises made for building homes for those affected remain unfulfilled, with many projects still incomplete. The people are growing increasingly frustrated with the situation."
He expressed confidence in the support of women voters, remarking: "Women are backing the UDF because we are advocates of peace. They demonstrated their support in the Panchayat elections."
Radhakrishnan acknowledged the BJP-led NDA's efforts to gain a foothold in Kerala politics but confidently predicted a UDF victory in the upcoming elections, stating: "Based on our ongoing developments, I am certain we will secure over 100 seats this election."
