Chandigarh, Oct 13 (NationPress) Amidst evolving political dynamics, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to visit the home of the deceased Haryana IGP officer Y. Puran Kumar in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Seven days after the IPS officer’s tragic suicide, his body remains in the mortuary. Gandhi is scheduled to arrive at 5:15 PM on October 14 to meet Amneet P Kumar, the widow of the deceased officer.
The family has declined to allow a postmortem or final rites until the arrest of Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, ousted Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, and other officers implicated in Kumar’s “final note”.
Inspector General Puran Kumar allegedly took his own life at his Chandigarh home on October 7 using his service revolver, leaving behind a “final note”. His cremation has yet to occur even after seven days since his passing.
A deadlock persists between Amneet P. Kumar, an IAS officer, and the Haryana government regarding the arrests of DGP Kapur and SP Bijarniya.
The victim's wife, Amneet P. Kumar, a senior bureaucrat in Haryana, expressed her desire for justice in a letter to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who has also visited to convey his condolences.
This urgent and confidential letter, sent three days ago, conveyed her distress over what she termed a “grave injustice” and “complete administrative inaction” following her husband’s death.
In a nine-page “suicide note”, Puran Kumar allegedly accused nine current and former IPS and IAS officers of “caste-based discrimination”.
Officers implicated include DGP Kapur and SP Bijarniya. State Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Hooda described this loss as profoundly tragic, stating in Rohtak, “Our only demand is that the guilty be punished. Delivering justice is the responsibility of the government.”
