Bengaluru, Dec 24 (NationPress) The Lokayukta officials executed simultaneous raids at 10 locations across three districts in Karnataka on Wednesday, amid allegations of acquiring assets that are disproportionate to the known sources of income of Sardar Sarfaraz Khan, the Personal Assistant to State Minister for Housing and Waqf, Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Over 100 Lokayukta officials conducted searches in Bengaluru, Madikeri, and Mysuru districts as part of the operation.

In Bengaluru, authorities raided Sarfaraz Khan's residence in the Halasuru area along with six other locations within the city.

They also targeted two coffee estates situated in Madikeri district.

Moreover, a resort in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysuru district, suspected to be owned by Sarfaraz Khan, was included in the searches.

Sarfaraz Khan is currently assigned to the State Housing Department.

The raids followed a formal complaint received by the Lokayukta Police regarding this matter, with further details pending.

In a separate incident, the Lokayukta Police arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on Wednesday for allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes at his office in Malleswaram, Bengaluru.

The accused, identified as Krishnamurthy, was reportedly demanding a monthly bribe of Rs 32,000 from the owner of Sagar Hotel.

After facing persistent harassment, the hotel owner contacted the Lokayukta Police and filed a complaint.

Based on this complaint and an audio recording of the ACP allegedly requesting the bribe, the Lokayukta authorities initiated an investigation.

During the operation, when the hotel owner handed over Rs 30,000 to ACP Krishnamurthy, Lokayukta officials intervened and apprehended him in the act of accepting the bribe.

Following this, the Lokayukta Police took ACP Krishnamurthy into custody for further inquiries, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
