Jaipur, March 19 (NationPress): Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma warmly congratulated NASA astronaut Sunita Williams on her safe return from her space mission, highlighting that her remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in the realm of women empowerment.
In a message shared on his X handle, he expressed, "The Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams has shown extraordinary patience, courage, and determination by spending nine months in space. Her success is not only a source of pride for India but also serves as an inspiration for humanity."
He further referred to her journey as a triumph of patience, having spent nine months in orbit. This landmark achievement signifies a new chapter in the advancement of women empowerment, as he reiterated in his message.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his admiration for her safe return, describing it as a joyful moment for the entire world and a proud occasion for Indians.
He reflected on the tragic loss of Kalpana Chawla on February 1, 2003, who tragically lost her life in a space shuttle disaster while returning to Earth. He stated, "On this occasion, we also honor her memory."
"The successful return of Sunita Williams from space is a joyous occasion for the global community, yet for us Indians, it holds emotional significance and pride," he remarked.
"On February 1, 2003, the first Indian-origin woman astronaut, Kalpana Chawla, tragically succumbed to a fatal accident while returning from space. Today, we salute her as well," he added.
