New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) Politicians from various parties in India commemorated the safe return of NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, expressing their admiration for her remarkable achievements and recognizing her as an inspiration for the nation.

Williams, alongside fellow astronauts Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, made their return to Earth on Tuesday evening aboard SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft.

The capsule successfully splashed down off the coast of Florida just before 6 p.m. local time. Recovery teams welcomed the astronauts, and Williams, stepping out third from the spacecraft, waved and smiled, signifying the end of her extended mission in space.

Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty shared her delight, stating, "I always hoped for the best and prayed for her. I am very happy she has returned safely."

In a statement to IANS, BJP MP Ravi Kishan welcomed Williams as "India's daughter" and emphasized the increasing global recognition of the brilliance of Indian women.

"This moment highlights the tremendous strength and potential of daughters. Indian women are setting extraordinary examples on the international stage. The world celebrates her return, demonstrating that even in space, their power is remarkable," he remarked.

Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora described her return as a "great victory for humanity" and underscored the achievement of innovation.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Sunita Williams to India, and I am confident that we will honor her in the coming months," he informed IANS.

Congress MP Karti P. Chidambaram referred to her safe return as a testament to human ingenuity.

"I am very pleased that space exploration is being pursued with such enthusiasm, and I am even happier that all the astronauts returned safely," he told IANS.

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi compared Williams and her crew to "stars returning to Earth," adding, "She has instilled immense pride in the entire world. Indians, in particular, feel honored."

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma commended Williams for making history. "She spent nine months in space, becoming the first person to achieve this milestone -- not just as a woman, but as an individual. I hope she visits India soon and receives a warm welcome," she commented.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak congratulated Williams on behalf of the state's 25 crore citizens. "The world has witnessed the charisma of India's daughter. My heart is filled with joy," he expressed.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Mayank Nayak echoed this sentiment, emphasizing her ties to Gujarat and India.

"She is the daughter of Gujarat, the daughter of India. She ventured into space and has now returned safely. I thank God for her safe journey back to Earth," he stated.
