Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, confirmed on Monday that there is a sufficient supply of petrol, diesel, LPG, and fertilisers throughout the state, urging residents to remain calm. He instructed officials to implement stringent measures against hoarding, black marketing, illegal storage, and unauthorized refilling.
During a high-level review meeting held at the Chief Minister's residence, Sharma highlighted that the government is committed to taking all necessary precautions to prevent any fabricated shortages.
Referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurances, he reiterated that the general public should not face any inconveniences.
To address LPG-related complaints, the Chief Minister mentioned that helplines 181, 112, and 14435 are operational 24/7. He tasked the Chief Secretary with ensuring prompt resolution of grievances and ongoing oversight.
The district administrations, police, and logistics departments have been alerted to guarantee a seamless supply and distribution process. Officials have been directed to ensure timely delivery of LPG cylinder refills, especially after the designated waiting period. They must also make adequate provisions for large events, such as weddings.
Sharma emphasized the importance of expanding the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network to lessen reliance on LPG. He called for companies to expedite the deployment of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections for households and encourage commercial entities—like hospitals, hotels, and restaurants—to transition to natural gas. Additionally, he directed that all pending approvals for pipeline installations be processed within 24 hours to accelerate infrastructure development.
The Chief Minister noted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has sanctioned a 10% increase in commercial LPG allocation and instructed officials to ensure its effective use. He also mentioned that an extra 20% of LPG allocation in 5-kg cylinders has been designated for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing units, industrial canteens, and laborers, stressing that this supply should not be misappropriated.
Both the central and state governments are collaborating to guarantee an adequate supply of urea, DAP, and other fertilisers. Over the last decade, the Centre has inaugurated six new urea plants, boosting annual production capacity by more than 7.6 million metric tonnes.
Reaffirming a stringent approach, the Chief Minister urged authorities to take decisive action against hoarders and those spreading misinformation, while ensuring continuous monitoring to prevent false narratives.
This meeting included Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Hiralal Nagar, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, senior officials from key departments, and representatives from petroleum firms.
