Jaipur, May 20 (NationPress) As temperatures continue to rise dramatically across Rajasthan, the town of Pilani in Jhunjhunu district registered an alarming 46.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking a new seasonal high. Several districts are enduring a crippling heatwave, with temperatures consistently exceeding 40 degrees for multiple days.

Churu recorded the second-highest temperature in the state at 46 degrees Celsius. In the capital, Jaipur, the mercury reached 44.6 degrees, while Vanasthali hit 45.1 degrees, Sikar reached 42.5 degrees, and Kota registered 43.5 degrees Celsius.

Nine cities in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, are currently under the severe heatwave's influence, with temperatures soaring beyond 44 degrees. The most affected towns are Pilani (Jhunjhunu), Churu, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Tonk, Barmer, Dausa, Jaisalmer, and Jaipur. Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner recorded temperatures of 45 degrees and 45.1 degrees, respectively.

Other regions experiencing extreme heat include Tonk (45.1 degrees), Barmer and Dausa (44.7 degrees), Jaipur (44.6 degrees), Jaisalmer (44.2 degrees), and Alwar (44 degrees).

The Meteorological Department forecasts no significant relief until May 22, issuing an orange alert for Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sri Ganganagar, and Hanumangarh due to anticipated extreme heat in the Bikaner division.

Officials warn of a possible increase of 1-2 degrees in temperatures over the next 48 hours. From May 21 to 23, maximum temperatures in areas of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions are expected to hit between 45-47 degrees, accompanied by hot and gusty winds at speeds of 30-40 km/h.

To mitigate the heat, water is being sprayed on roads in several cities like Jaipur and Alwar.

In a tragic incident, a 47-year-old man named Nemaram, from Purnapura, was found deceased on the roadside near Sikar. His family attributes his death to the extreme heat and dehydration.

According to Dhod Police Station in-charge Rakesh Kumar Meena, the body was discovered early Tuesday on the Singrawat-Didwana road.

While the northern and western regions of the state suffer from blistering heat, southern Rajasthan has experienced sporadic rainfall and thunderstorms.

On Monday, several areas, such as Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh, received rainfall.

Parts of Udaipur and Kota divisions may continue to experience light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms (with winds of 40-50 km/h) for the next 4-5 days, particularly in the afternoons.

Between May 22-23, dust storms and thunderstorms are anticipated in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner divisions.
