Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 21 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Governor Haribhau Bagde has taken a decisive stance regarding colleges and universities that do not meet academic benchmarks, asserting that these institutions must either enhance the quality of higher education or cease operations.
He emphasized that there will be no compromise on educational standards in the state.
In a meeting with the Vice-Chancellors’ Coordination Committee, the Governor stated that institutions falling short of fundamental academic criteria would be prohibited from continuing their operations.
Colleges or institutions that have been designated as universities without the necessary authorization will face stringent measures, including potential closure.
Governor Bagde highlighted that education is vital for both social and economic progress. He urged collective efforts across all educational levels—from primary schools to universities—to bolster the system and guarantee meaningful learning results.
The Governor directed all universities to hold convocation ceremonies annually, ensuring they are organized with minimal costs.
He also mandated that annual audits by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) be conducted in all universities, with full cooperation provided to audit teams.
Stressing the significance of quality evaluation, the Governor instructed universities to undertake timely and effective measures to enhance their NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) rankings.
He noted that the state government is actively working to eliminate procedural and administrative challenges faced by universities during the NAAC process. Universities were encouraged to accelerate improvements in curriculum quality, innovative teaching methodologies, academic governance, and infrastructure.
The Governor assured that the recruitment and financial approval processes pending at the state level would soon be finalized to support educational reforms.
Additionally, he instructed universities to prominently feature significant aspects of Indian history, traditional knowledge systems, and other essential subjects on campus walls to raise awareness among students and foster cultural and intellectual heritage.
