  • Degrees alone are not enough in today's competitive landscape.

Jaipur, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Governor of Rajasthan, Haribhau Bagde, encouraged female students to exhibit bravery during his visit on Thursday, suggesting that they should not hesitate to take action against those who misbehave by slapping them with slippers.

"It is vital for female students to stand firm against misconduct. If someone misbehaves, do not hesitate to retaliate with a slap or a slipper. Summon your courage and act decisively," he stated at Malakheda in the Alwar district, where he also initiated the second phase of development at Rajarshi Bhartrihari Matsya University in Haldina.

The Governor lauded the courage of female students and urged them to maintain strong moral values. He expressed disappointment regarding the tendency of bystanders to record rather than assist during distressing situations, saying: "I often see videos where individuals film events instead of intervening. It is disgraceful when a woman is harassed, and people merely take out their phones. Put down the phone, intervene, and confront the offender. Do not wait for law enforcement; by the time they arrive, the crime might already be done. This mentality must transform."

He also called for ongoing efforts to ensure that educational courses remain timely, relevant, and aligned with the new education policy.

In remembrance of Maharaja Bhartrihari, he encouraged students to draw inspiration from his teachings, urging them to be fearless and courageous. He reiterated that everyone should oppose injustice and fortify social values.

Moreover, he highlighted the changing terrain of education, stating that merely obtaining a degree is no longer sufficient.

"There was a time when degrees were rare, and jobs were abundant. Now, competition is fierce for all—whether or not they have reservations. True intellectual capability is what counts," he asserted.

The advancements at Rajarshi Bhartrihari Matsya University encompass the construction of housing for faculty and staff, a sports field, a digital library, and other vital amenities.

With an investment of Rs 61 crore, this project aims to improve the university's infrastructure, thereby promoting growth in education and research.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, District Collector Artika Shukla, and Vice Chancellor Sheelsindhu Pandey.
