New Delhi, Nov 24 (NationPress) The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Kurukshetra today to inaugurate the Haryana Pavilion at the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav, adding a prominent feature to this yearly spiritual and cultural celebration.
Set up by Kurukshetra University in the Draupadi Koop area, the pavilion aims to showcase Haryana's rich folk traditions and ancient cultural heritage through performances, exhibits, and various artistic displays.
In addition to the pavilion's opening, the Defence Minister will also launch the three-day International Gita Seminar at the Srimad Bhagavad Gita Sadan of Kurukshetra University.
This seminar will gather distinguished scholars from both India and abroad to deliberate on the global significance of the Bhagavad Gita, its philosophical depth, and its increasing relevance in today's society.
Officials have indicated that the Haryana Pavilion is designed to provide visitors with a vibrant insight into the state’s cultural identity. Young artists will perform traditional folk art, while special exhibitions will emphasize Haryana’s historical legacy. A government representative mentioned that this year’s initiatives also include a unique representation of the region’s ancient cultural roots through interactive and visual presentations.
The International Gita Mahotsav, which commenced on November 15, is a 21-day celebration merging spirituality, culture, and scholarship. Supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Gita Jayanti events are simultaneously being held in 50 countries, illustrating the universal message of the Gita.
This year, Madhya Pradesh has been designated as the partner state, contributing cultural troupes, artistic installations, and spiritual programs to the event in Kurukshetra.
The historic city has been adorned with decorative lights, thematic installations, and cultural stages to create a memorable festival atmosphere. Thousands of devotees, tourists, researchers, and artists from across India are expected to converge to participate in various programs, including recitations, exhibitions, and discourses.
In the meantime, the spiritual enthusiasm surrounding Gita Jayanti was echoed in Lucknow, where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the Divya Geeta Prerna Utsav alongside RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
The Chief Minister remarked that the 700 verses of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita serve as a “life mantra” for every follower of Sanatan Dharma. “The Gita is not merely a scripture; it represents a way of life. Its divine teachings inspire purity, clarity, and dedication,” he stated.
He also highlighted that in the Indian tradition, Dharma has never been confined to rituals alone. “Worship is just one element. Essentially, Dharma is the art of living,” he added.
