Kurukshetra, April 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, announced on Monday that both the Central and state governments are actively engaged in efforts to disseminate the teachings and principles of the Sikh Gurus across all segments of society.
He emphasized that these initiatives further enhance the preservation and promotion of the Guru tradition and the rich cultural heritage of the nation.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a gathering at the state-level Baisakhi Mahotsav, organized by the Art and Cultural Affairs Department in collaboration with the district administration.
In his address, the Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi and offered his respects to the revered Gurus on the foundation day of the Khalsa Panth.
During the event, the Chief Minister and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj received a kirpan and siropa from the Sikh Sangat as a gesture of honor.
Following this, he inaugurated an exhibition showcasing Sikh history and the achievements and initiatives of the state government.
The Chief Minister also launched wrestling competitions for both men and women and commenced the international kite competition by flying a kite himself.
He toured the Haryana Heritage Pavilion, which highlights the vibrant Haryanvi culture.
Stressing the importance of the festival, the Chief Minister noted that Baisakhi represents prosperity, appreciation for labor, and harmony with nature.
Expressing his joy at being present on the sacred land of Kurukshetra, known as the land of Dharma and Karma, he remarked that the festival encourages people to connect with nature and celebrate the joy of a fruitful harvest.
He stated that India is advancing into a new era under PM Modi's leadership, rapidly progressing towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the teachings of the Sikh Gurus—unity, dedication, service, and hard work—should be integrated into daily life to cultivate an inclusive society where all individuals enjoy equal opportunities, free from discrimination, allowing everyone to live with dignity.
He further noted that development must align with maintaining connections to “our roots, preserving culture, and educating future generations about the nation’s glorious history.”
Recalling the historical significance of the day, he mentioned that on this date in 1699 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, established the Khalsa Panth during a time of rampant injustice and oppression, providing a new direction to society founded on courage, equality, self-respect, and patriotism.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, a special train will depart from Kurukshetra on May 5 to facilitate devotees' visits to Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra.
