Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on 9 August extended greetings to youth across the country on the Foundation Day of the Indian Youth Congress. The occasion was also marked by a programme at Gandhi Bhavan, the state Congress headquarters in Hyderabad, coinciding with Quit India Day.

Chief Minister's Message to the Youth

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, in his Foundation Day message, underscored the role of young Indians in shaping the nation's present — not merely its future. 'On the Foundation Day of the Indian Youth Congress, my heartfelt greetings to the youth of India. Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow — they are the force shaping India today,' he said.

Revanth Reddy also called on the youth to stand firm on constitutional values. 'Let us unite to defend our Constitution, strengthen democracy, and fight for justice, equality and opportunity for all. Together, let us build a stronger, inclusive and progressive India,' he added.

TPCC Chief Hoists Youth Congress Flag at Gandhi Bhavan

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud hoisted the Youth Congress flag at Gandhi Bhavan and extended greetings to leaders and workers of the organisation. He described the Indian Youth Congress as having played a 'vital role in nurturing young leadership, strengthening the organisation at the grassroots, and inspiring generations of young people to contribute to public service and nation-building.'

Goud called on members to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of the Indian National Congress (INC) and continue empowering youth 'to lead with courage, responsibility and dedication.'

Ministers Join the Celebration

Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar also extended greetings, describing the Indian Youth Congress as 'the world's largest democratic youth organisation.' Cabinet ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha, Vakati Srihari, and Mohammed Azharuddin attended the Gandhi Bhavan programme.

Quit India Day Observed Alongside

The Foundation Day celebration coincided with Quit India Day, observed on 9 August each year to mark the launch of the 1942 Quit India Movement. Congress leaders visited a special exhibition organised under the auspices of the Gandhi Trust, which featured a book display and statues of Mahatma Gandhi. The leaders paid their respects to Gandhi's life and legacy at the event.

The dual observance of Youth Congress Foundation Day and Quit India Day at Gandhi Bhavan reinforces the party's effort to link its youth wing's identity to the broader freedom movement narrative — a framing the Congress has leaned on consistently ahead of electoral cycles.
