Is There a Rift in Congress During the ‘Save MNREGA’ Event in Darbhanga?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 27 (NationPress) The internal strife within the Congress party became evident during a party event at the Darbhanga District Congress office as part of the ‘Save MNREGA Campaign. Senior leaders encountered protests, chants, and serious accusations from party members.
The community engagement program was in progress when Bihar Congress Committee member Ram Narayan Jha raised slogans against the party leadership, voicing significant discontent over purported exclusion and the internal dynamics.
As tensions heightened, Congress Legislative Council leader Madan Mohan Jha urged for tranquility with a humble gesture, but the protesters persisted in their demonstration.
Speaking to the crowd, Jha indicated that party members were prohibited from addressing organizational flaws in Darbhanga.
He claimed that conversations were held in secrecy by senior leaders, sidelining grassroots workers, which compelled them to protest.
“I became a member of Congress on January 3, 1979, and have dedicated 46 years to the party through various roles, including the student organization and Youth Congress. I have represented Laheriasarai for three decades,” Jha remarked.
He further asserted that during the 2022 organizational elections for the All India Congress Committee (AICC), he was denied a fair opportunity despite previous assurances.
Making serious allegations, Jha accused former Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Singh of corruption.
He also pointed out extensive irregularities in ticket allocations, attributing the blame to those operating between Delhi and Patna.
He claimed to have sent numerous emails to Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, yet received no reply.
“If we don’t receive justice within the party, how can the nation expect justice?” he queried, cautioning that Congress would stagnate if such practices persisted.
The protest occurred in the presence of All India Congress General Secretary and Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram, and several senior leaders from both national and state levels.
Even before the event concluded, chants against Krishna Allavaru and Rajesh Ram echoed inside the Congress office.
As the situation escalated, conflicts erupted between opposing groups of Congress workers.
Reports indicate that party flags were used as makeshift weapons, leading to chaos that lasted nearly ten minutes at the venue.
Protesters accused the party leadership of selling tickets for cash and warned that Congress would not advance under such conditions.
