Kolkata, Nov 13 (NationPress) Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter of India, shared his joy regarding his comeback to international cricket after being sidelined for nearly four months due to an injury on his right ankle. Pant has been included in India’s squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa, which is set to commence at Eden Gardens on Friday.
Recently, Pant made his way back to competitive cricket last month, leading the India A team in two unofficial Tests versus South Africa A in Bengaluru. Prior to this, he completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, after which he was cleared for selection.
"Coming back after an injury is always challenging. But God has been consistently kind and blessed me, and I am very happy to return," Pant mentioned in a video shared by the BCCI.
"Each time I step onto the field, I aim to remain grateful. That’s why I look up and express my thanks to God, my parents, and my family, who have supported me throughout my recovery," he elaborated.
The 28-year-old explained how he maintained a positive mindset during his recovery, overcoming negativity.
"I concentrate on what I can control; luck is not within my grasp. Thus, I avoid dwelling on it, as many aspects remain beyond our consideration. By keeping your mind focused on what truly matters, you’ll discover happiness, especially during injury periods," he stated.
"Stay in a comfortable zone, work hard, maintain discipline, and embrace a learning attitude while enjoying the process. Whatever you're involved in, you must relish that moment, giving your all and finding joy in it," Pant continued.
In the four innings of the India A series, Pant achieved scores of 17, 90, 24, and 65. The wicketkeeper-batter faced a toe injury during the fourth Test of the series in Manchester. Across seven innings during the tour, Pant amassed 479 runs, including two centuries and three fifties.
