Jaipur, Aug 11 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently announced the release of Rs 3,200 crore as insurance claims for farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
This substantial amount has been credited directly to the bank accounts of over 30 lakh farmers across various states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, during a formal ceremony held at the Jhunjhunu airstrip.
The event commenced with a warm welcome for the distinguished guests, with CM Sharma and Minister Chouhan being presented with bouquets crafted from millets.
By initiating the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) with a simple button press, the leaders marked the commencement of the first installment of insurance claims for the Rabi 2024-25 and Kharif 2024 seasons.
Symbolic cheques were also handed out to beneficiaries of various initiatives.
Union Minister Chouhan emphasized that the disbursement of Rs 3,200 crore in crop insurance claims is a significant step towards providing essential relief to PMFBY beneficiaries across the nation.
Since the inception of the current state government until July 2025, Rajasthan has disbursed a total of Rs 3,912.53 crore in crop insurance claims to 148 lakh eligible policyholder farmers.
In his address, CM Sharma highlighted that over Rs 1,200 crore has been allocated for farmers in the state.
He described farmers as the "soul, pride, and honor" of the nation and accused the previous Congress government of neglecting their welfare.
Sharma alleged that the Congress party exploited the slogan 'Garibi Hatao' solely for electoral gains and failed to deliver promises such as bringing Yamuna water to the region.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an agreement with Haryana for Yamuna water has been signed, and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently underway.
He assured that in the near future, the residents of Shekhawati will receive Yamuna water.
During this event, the distribution of crop insurance funds revealed that farmers in Madhya Pradesh received Rs 1,156 crore, Rajasthan received Rs 1,121 crore, Chhattisgarh received Rs 150 crore, and other states shared a total of Rs 773 crore.
The State Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena stated that the government has taken stringent actions against the sale of counterfeit fertilizers and seeds, resulting in the seizure of large quantities and the filing of multiple FIRs.
