Why Did Karnataka BJP MP, Minister Priyank Kharge Clash Over RSS Ban Remarks?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Oct 13 (NationPress) The suggestion to prohibit the public activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has ignited a heated exchange between RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge and leaders of the BJP.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Narayansa Bhandage criticized Kharge on Monday, humorously claiming confusion over the name Priyank, as it is shared by many.
In a strong rebuttal, Priyank Kharge asserted, “Regardless of my identity, I am good.” He further remarked, “Had their fathers been more considerate, such confusion wouldn’t exist.” His comments are poised to fuel the ongoing dispute.
The controversy began after Priyank Kharge urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to implement a ban on all RSS activities in government institutions and public spaces throughout Karnataka. He argued that these actions contradict “India’s unity and the spirit of the Constitution.”
BJP MP Narayansa retorted, “It’s unclear whether Priyank Kharge is male or female. There are both men and women named Priyanka. This confusion arises because he insists on discussing matters that don’t pertain to him. Do you genuinely think you can ban the RSS? Even the Congress’s most respected leaders have failed to do so.”
He reiterated, “The ancestors of the Congress party could not ban the RSS. Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru even allowed the RSS to conduct events.”
Addressing Priyank Kharge’s claim that none of the BJP leaders engage their children with the RSS, Narayansa responded, “My children and grandson are actively involved in the RSS.”
“Mr. Kharge, you should recognize that on January 26, 1962, the Nehru administration permitted the RSS to participate in the Republic Day parade. Will you ban that now?” he inquired.
In a forceful reply, Priyank Kharge stated, “I am superior to him. Whatever I am, I am good. If they had been born with consideration, this situation wouldn’t exist. They lack logic and intelligence. If they wish to speak, they should present evidence. These individuals were born without thought, and that explains their behavior.”
Former minister K.S. Eshwarappa, commenting on the proposed ban of RSS activities, remarked, “Insignificant politicians are making absurd statements. Only those who are irrational could propose such a ban. The CM should have dismissed the letter requesting an RSS ban outright. The RSS, celebrating its centenary, is recognized for its contributions and sacrifices nationally and internationally. Small-minded politicians like Priyank Kharge and Congress MLC B.K. Hariprasad are making such ludicrous comments.”
“If they attempt to spit at the sun, it will only fall back on them. An elephant walking through doesn’t heed barking dogs. The RSS stands as the largest organization globally in terms of social service,” Eshwarappa added.
