Guwahati, Nov 17 (NationPress) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat landed in Assam on Monday for a two-day visit, which represents a significant phase of the organization's nationwide events celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Upon arrival at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Bhagwat was welcomed by senior RSS officials and state coordinators.
Immediately following his arrival, he proceeded to the Sudarshanalaya at Barbari, the main Karyalaya of the organization in the city, where he is scheduled to conduct closed-door meetings and discussions.
This trip forms part of the extensive centenary agenda of the RSS, which includes a series of outreach, organizational, and intellectual events across the nation.
Assam is particularly critical for the Sangh, considering its rapidly growing network in the Northeast and the organization’s emphasis on cultural unity, community involvement, and cadre education in the area.
This marks Bhagwat's second visit to Assam within the year. In February, he spent five days in Guwahati, engaging with karyakartas from various districts. That visit encompassed a thorough organizational review, dialogues with senior pracharaks on ongoing initiatives, and a speech at the Rashtra Sevika Samiti event at IIT Guwahati.
He also provided a Bouddhik (intellectual) lecture at South Point High School in the Saukuchi area, where a large number of cadres gathered to listen to his insights on national issues, social harmony, and the role of the RSS in modern India.
During this current visit, Bhagwat is expected to assess the progress of various centenary-related activities in Assam and engage with the state Sangh leadership regarding future plans.
While the specifics of his itinerary remain largely undisclosed, sources suggest that he will conduct brainstorming sessions focused on organizational growth, youth engagement, and cultural initiatives in the Northeast.
This visit coincides with the RSS's increased involvement in the region, where it has significantly expanded its presence over the last decade. The centenary celebrations are viewed as an opportunity to bolster its ideological influence and connect with a broader segment of society. Bhagwat is also scheduled to visit Manipur on November 20.
