RSS Remembers S.M. Krishna's Strong Connection with the Organization

Bengaluru, Dec 10 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) conveyed its heartfelt condolences following the demise of veteran politician S.M. Krishna, emphasizing the strong bond he shared with their organization.

S.M. Krishna, aged 93, who served as the former Union External Affairs Minister, passed away in Bengaluru after battling a lengthy illness.

In a statement released by P. Vaman Shenoy, the RSS' Mangalore Vibagh Sanghachalak, alongside Dattatreya Hosabale, the General Secretary of the RSS, they stated, "The news of the passing of former Karnataka Chief Minister, former Governor, and Padma Vibhushan awardee S.M. Krishna has filled us with profound sorrow."

The statement lauded S.M. Krishna, mentioning, "As a statesman, a widely respected Chief Minister, the External Affairs Minister of India, the Governor of Maharashtra, and the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Council, S.M. Krishna commanded great admiration due to his humble character and amiable disposition."

"His impactful contributions to the state's progress through people-centric initiatives and innovative concepts will always be cherished. His six-decade-long political journey exemplifies vision, leadership, and effective governance," the RSS added.

"The RSS extends its deepest condolences on his passing. We pray for strength for his family and supporters to endure this loss, and for his soul to find peace," stated Vaman Shenoy.

Meanwhile, renowned Kannada actor Shivarajkumar, who paid his respects to S.M. Krishna's remains in Bengaluru, reminisced about S.M. Krishna's pivotal support during a difficult period for his family.

"We hold S.M. Krishna in high regard. If anyone represents how a Chief Minister should be, it is S.M. Krishna. His discipline was exemplary. We will forever remember how he stood by us when my father, Dr. Rajkumar, was kidnapped by the notorious forest bandit Veerappan. We shared a personal connection with him and his entire family," Shivarajkumar remarked.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairperson of Biocon, stated, "S.M. Krishna was a visionary Chief Minister whose groundbreaking policies transformed Bengaluru and Karnataka into a global technology hub."

"He established Vision Groups as a distinctive model of collaboration between business and government to implement IT, Biotechnology, and Startup policies that continue to inspire successive administrations. I regard him as one of the finest Chief Ministers in our nation, leaving behind an indelible legacy of progressive reforms," Shaw added.

Shobha Karandlaje, the Union Minister of State for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, expressed her sorrow, stating, "The news of the passing of S.M. Krishna, a distinguished leader, former Chief Minister, and popular Union Minister, has brought immense sadness."

"I pray for his noble soul to attain eternal peace and for his political contributions to be remembered forever," she added.

While mourning the loss of the veteran leader and former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar described him as a father figure.

"S.M. Krishna was like my father. His guidance and counsel are evident throughout my life. He is the architect of Nava Karnataka," Shivakumar stated during a press briefing in Bengaluru.

"While Kengal Hanumanthaiah constructed Vidhana Soudha, S.M. Krishna built Vikasa Soudha. He contributed to the Bengaluru International Airport and the Metro train. His last budget was Rs 26,000 crore, which has surged to Rs 3.83 lakh crore today. His economic contributions to the state are invaluable," he elaborated.

"He established Vikasa Soudha for state development and Udyog Bhavan to foster employment opportunities. He initiated the Karnataka Beverages Corporation and supported the state treasury. He even offered to resign for Karnataka's rightful share of Cauvery River water. The efforts he made during the kidnapping of Kannada icon Rajkumar by Veerappan are known only to us," he continued.

"Initiatives like Mid-day meals, Sthree Shakthi, Yashwashwini, and the Bhoomi app are among his many contributions. His role in establishing Bengaluru as the IT Capital is substantial. The growth of Bengaluru as a major global brand reflects his legacy," Shivakumar stated.

"He is my relative and my political mentor. He has left behind a remarkable legacy, and we must carry it forward. I will follow in his footsteps. He was a visionary, and it would take hours to discuss his impact," he concluded.

The final rites will be held at his ancestral home in Somanahalli in Maddur taluk with full state honors. His remains will be accessible for last respects in Somanahalli on Wednesday.

The government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday and will observe a three-day mourning period. The public can pay their respects at his residence in Sadashivanagar until 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The mortal remains will then be transferred to Somanahalli near Maddur and will be displayed until 3 p.m.," he stated.

"An event will take place at Bharat Jodo Bhavan of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office at 5 p.m. on Tuesday to pay tribute. All party activities and the Legislature party meeting have been postponed. The Mandya district in-charge and Minister Chaluvaraya Swamy and I are heading to Maddur to coordinate the final arrangements," he added.
